Interview with Sara
Tell us a little about yourself and your history with agile?
As a graduate from the university with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management my first job was as a singer. A bit later in 2012 I entered as a Project Management Trainee into an IT & Management Consulting company. The first week I was introduced to “agility” and “Scrum” – and it made so much sense. Since then I have been consulting and contracting as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach and Enterprise Agile Coach.
How do your personal values connect with the work as Agile Coach?
Freedom: If purpose is no longer being served, if the growth has stagnated or I´m being challenged to compromise on my integrity – I value having created the option to keep walking. Standing still equals going backwards. And I´m constantly on the move.
Independence: Dependencies are the greatest enemy of true agility, however acting completely solo doesn´t even require it. The balance is the challenge – together enough for us both to thrive yet solo enough for silence and creative innovation.
Humanity: We all have a history, hopes and dreams and each story we are telling ourselves are also true to ourselves. We deserve to be met with respect and without judgement for each person’s truth. Shame dies when being told in a safe space – human being, being human. In the end, I am just another you and you are just another me.
What types of clients has worked with you over the years?
I´ve worked with both software and hardware. Packaging industry, Bank and Financial, Furniture creators and so forth. Both public and the private sector. The people are what keeps me going whatever the product might be.
Can you share their personal values that are valuable to them?
As an external I mainly work next to leaders, managers and executives spanning over boundaries and often have a feeling of flying solo backstage for the benefit of internal, sustainable, and long-term changes.
What agile tools do you use with your clients?
During the years I´ve gained a large portfolio of tools to be used. My main go-to-tool when training others is without any doubt Miro. I use liberating structures but also gladly design my own techniques or exercises that I´m happy to try whenever I can. However, when we share presence in a coaching conversation I´m reaching high levels of listening and you will feel you are the only one that matters at that time – and you are.
What coaching philosophies do you adhere to and work with?
I am a great advocate of “Change your questions change your life”, written by Marilee Adams Ph.D. I strongly believe that what is meant to be said and transparent will be if given the right questions given the context without any judgement or shaming.
