Interview with Gergana
Tell us a little about yourself and your history with agile?
I’ve been deeply involved in the Agile community since joining The Agile Company in 2023. My journey began with a fascination for Agile methodologies and their transformative power. I swiftly realized that Agile is more than a framework; it’s a mindset that fosters continuous improvement and collaboration.
My role as an instructor for the ICP-ACC Agile Coaching certificate, ICP-APM Agile Product Management and ICP-ATF Agile Team Facilitation certification classes has been a fulfilling journey, where I’ve had the privilege of coaching hundreds of budding Agile coaches in the nuances of coaching, mentoring, training, and facilitation.
How do your personal values connect with the work as Agile Coach?
The values that resonate most with me are curiosity, empathy, and continuous learning. I believe being genuinely curious about each individual’s journey allows for more meaningful connections and tailored coaching. Empathy guides me to understand and relate to my clients’ challenges deeply.
And continuous learning is vital – there’s always something new in the dynamic world of Agile, and staying updated is key to being an effective coach.
What types of clients has worked with you over the years?
My clients have included Agile beginners, seasoned professionals looking to refine their skills, and teams and organizations at various stages of their Agile transformation.
Can you share their personal values that are valuable to them?
My approach to teamwork is collaborative and facilitative. I believe in leading by example, fostering an environment of open communication, and encouraging team members to contribute their unique perspectives. This helps in building a cohesive team that’s aligned towards common goals while respecting individual contributions.
What agile tools do you use with your clients?
I use a mix of traditional and innovative Agile tools. This includes Agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban, along with various digital tools for project management and collaboration. I also heavily rely on facilitation and coaching techniques to help teams and individuals uncover insights and solutions organically.
What coaching philosophies do you adhere to and work with?
My coaching philosophy is centered around empowering individuals and teams. I believe in facilitating self-discovery rather than providing direct solutions. This means asking powerful questions, active listening, and creating a safe space for exploration and experimentation.
It’s about guiding clients to find their own path in the Agile journey, ensuring they develop skills and mindsets that are sustainable and impactful in the long run.
